How to Train Your Dragon will continue to be remembered fondly, but that doesn't mean that it will be a brand that people will be excited to go and re-live close to a decade from now. However, it's looking like that gap is going to widen, and depending on how wide the gap gets, it could end up being too much. If Epic Universe had opened on time, the How to Train Your Dragon land would open about four years after the most recent movie. How to Train Your Dragon is a solid trilogy that ended strongly and has a lot of fans. If the upcoming third movie, which is just over a year away at this point, continues the downward trend, then Universal could very easily reconsider dedicating space in the new park to it, especially if the land still hasn't even started being built by that point, which seems likely. However, the fact is that the Fantastic Beasts series has never been as successful as the main franchise. The Wizarding World is still insanely popular on the whole, and the two Harry Potter-themed lands at the existing Universal theme parks draw in huge crowds. However, it seems likely that as time passes, any or all of these brands could fall out of popularity with fans, and thus become less appealing to build a theme park around. ![]() One was set to be dedicated to the How to Train Your Dragon franchise, one was expected to be focused on the Fantastic Beasts part of the Wizarding World, and the third would bring the classic Universal Monsters to life. Rumors have persisted that three other lands were planned for the new theme park. On January 24, 2020, a Comcast executive confirmed rumors that a Super Nintendo World themed land would be included in the park.While Super Nintendo World was the only part of Epic Universe that had been confirmed, the fact is that everybody interested in the new park knew exactly what was coming. In addition, the park will also feature an entertainment center, hotels, shops, and restaurants. It is unknown which franchises will occupy Epic Universe. AttractionsĪs of August 2019, details about the rides have not been confirmed, but concept art released by Universal portrayed at least two roller coasters, several indoor rides, large lakes, and a towering hotel. The park is now expected to open in 2025. In March 2021, Universal Orlando Resort announced that construction would restart. A few days later, it was revealed that the planned opening had been pushed back to 2024. On April 30, 2020, it was announced that construction on the resort had been paused due to the coronavirus pandemic. Without releasing details, Tom Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Parks & Resorts, said Universal's Epic Universe would be the company's "most immersive and innovative theme park." Comcast and NBCUniversal officials said it would create an additional 14,000 jobs, including professional, technical, culinary and other specialized positions. NBCUniversal announced on August 1, 2019, that it was building a third theme park as part of the Universal Orlando Resort. ![]() The theme park will be located a few miles south from the existing resort, within a larger 750-acre (300 ha) site south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard. It is sister parks to Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure. Its construction was announced in August 2019 and is scheduled to open in 2025. Universal's Epic Universe is an upcoming theme park being constructed as part of the Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida, USA. ![]()
